Trade balance surplus reaches us$ 10.11 billion in the year, up 43.9%

The Brazilian trade balance was in surplus of US$ 10.11 billion as of the third week of March, representing a 43.9% increase daily from January to March 2021. The trade flow (the sum of exports and imports) increased by 25.7% to 112.72 billion.

Exports in 2022 total US$ 61.42 billion, with an increase of 27%, while imports rose 24.1% and total US$ 51.31 billion. The data were released this Monday (21/3) by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy.

On a month-to-month basis, exports grew 36.5% and totaled US$ 18.77 billion, while imports rose 24.7% and totaled US$ 12.59 billion. The result was a surplus of US$ 6.18 billion, up 68.9%, with the trade flow reaching US$ 31.37 billion, up 31.5%.

Exports totaled $6.923 billion in the third week of March, while imports totaled $4.49 billion. As a result, the trade balance was in surplus by US$ 2.427 billion in the week, and the trade flow totaled US$ 11.419 billion.

Comparing the daily average until the third week of this month (US$ 1.444 billion) with that of March 2021 (US$ 1.058 billion), exports grew 36.5%, with an increase in sales from the Extractive Industry (+19 .7%), from the Manufacturing Industry (+44.1%) and Agriculture (+41.5%).

Imports in the month

As for imports, The daily average until the third week of March 2022 (US$ 968.72 million) was 24.7% higher than the March average (US$ 776.75 million) from the previous year. In this comparison, purchases of products from the Transformation Industry (+24.3%), the Extractive Industry (+72.5%), and Agriculture (+6.7%) increased.
