A history of pioneering

Datamar was founded in 1996 by David Lorimer, who at the time had over 30 years of experience working in the maritime sector. As he was very involved in the day-to-day activities of shipowners and maritime authorities, David saw the need for decisions in this sector to be made based on data and not just intuitively, as the market had been operating. This was his motivation for founding Datamar – a move warmly welcomed by the maritime logistics industry.
The company has managed to retain a strong reputation on the market for over 25 years, maintaining important partnerships with companies and authorities in the maritime sector so that it can go beyond using only public data sources, to offer data that is painstakingly put together from firsthand sources to provide the best accuracy on the market for all maritime imports and exports.
